The proposals would see the retention and refurbishment of the historic Town Hall Annexe building and its conversion to residential, along with a new restaurant/cafe.
In combination with the new build development on the Brian Didsbury site, the development will provide a total of 185 new homes for rent.
As part of the planning commitment Red Door Ventures will also be providing 47 new affordable homes on sites in Newham, the majority of which are for families.
The affordable housing includes a mix of homes for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.
In addition to this, Red Door Ventures has committed to a unique arrangement that would see future profit from the new rented flats shared with the Council towards additional affordable housing, up to the equivalent of 50% affordable housing in accordance with the Mayor of London's objectives.

dRMM architects have designed the mixed-use residential scheme that re-imagines the locally listed Town Hall Annexe, and introduces two new residential buildings in place of the disused Brian Didsbury Centre. In this configuration, the annexe building acts as a public gateway that connects people through to a landscaped courtyard.
Philip Marsh, a founding Director of dRMM comments, “The rhythm and materiality of the original annexe building informs the extension. An articulated brick plinth echoes the hall, while distinctive metal cladding creates a bold counterpoint. The metallic sheen of the cladding plays with the light and reflections of the sky.”
This refurbishment will provide 37 new homes as well as communal gardens and a ground floor café. Enabling people to engage with the heritage building; the public face of the new scheme.
A further 148 homes are provided in two seven storey stepped buildings that follow the architectural qualities of the annexe building. These apartments are designed to create a sense of spaciousness, with full height windows and balconies to optimise light and views.
Affordable, family sized housing is provided on linked sites at Romford Road, Stacey Road and Cyprus Road.
dRMM has been appointed to RDV’s framework of architects and is working on a number of sites at a variety of scales.
