Populo wins a RESI Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Affordable Housing

Posted 09 April 2025

We are proud to have been awarded a RESI Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affordable Housing, following closely on our Pineapple Award for Future Place for the Carpenters Estate masterplan.

Organised by Property Week, the annual RESI Awards recognise excellence and achievement in the residential property sector, marking out quality development that delivers for residents.

Being recognised as outstanding in terms of our affordable delivery is an important piece of recognition for the work we do on behalf of Newham, using innovative cross-funding of market and affordable homes to deliver more for our residents. We simply would not be able to deliver such great outcomes without the council's support.

At the awards the judges said: “As Newham's housing delivery company, Populo Living is transforming the lives of residents. Over 10 years they've delivered 783 homes, including 251 affordable, with many at social rent, plus Newham's first affordable later living development. Their Carpenters Estate regeneration will deliver 50% affordable housing units of the over 2,300 homes.

Populo's CEO Deborah Heenan (above with Luca Frasca of Alan Baxter said): “In 2019, the new Newham administration instructed Populo to deliver for residents, especially those in desperate need of an affordable, high-quality home, and we have done just that. A huge thank you to colleagues in Newham and our professional partners - there is a lot more to do. We're getting on and look forward to more homes delivered.”

“A huge thanks to all our partners in the Council and professional teams - we have done a lot, have a lot more to do, so look forward to more homes and more transformation.

“Naturally, to deliver so many projects we are lucky to work with talented teams and consultants across the board, and a big thank you to our incredible partners Alan Baxter and Pitman Tozer Architects who invited us to the Awards dinner as their guest!”
