London Festival of Architecture - Carpenters transformative Meanwhile Projects

Meanwhile projects are the key to meaningful regeneration that engages the wider community with change, and at the Carpenters Estate we've created a strategy with a focus on legacy to ensure just this.
Join Populo Living, Newham London, Meanwhile Space and Jan Kattein Architects on 26 June (430-5pm) for talk and tour of our Meanwhile Projects at the Carpenters Estate., part of the London Festival of Architecture These temporary interventions are reshaping the conversation around estate regeneration, co-design, and community impact, and are an exemplar for urban regeneration.
The event is perfect for architecture, planning and built environment practices wanting insight on this evolving aspect of regeneration, as well as students wanting to get practical industry knowledge that will make the stand out at interviews.
Led by award-winning architect Jan Kattein, this event brings together voices from across local government, social enterprise, design practice, and resident groups leading the change. The session will explore how the Meanwhile Projects at Carpenters Estate have reactivated underused space, prototyped inclusive infrastructure and embedded social value in the regeneration process.
Attendees enjoy a guided tour of the projects, concluding at the Dialogue Express Café. This repurposed train carriage, and example of the circular economy that Populo is committed to, is operated by Dialogue Hub, providing training and employment opportunities for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, as well as the perfect spot for some post event networking.
